Renewable & Electrical Sales Director

The Role:

As the Renewable & Electrical Sales Director, you will lead the strategic vision, commercial expansion, and overall sales performance of City Plumbing Supplies’ Renewables and Electrical division. Your core purpose is to cement the business as the UK’s leading partner for low-carbon energy, sustainable heating, and electrical installation solutions. This hybrid, national role is critical in driving our mission forward by expanding our renewable hub network, empowering sales teams with deep technical knowledge, and ensuring tradespeople, housebuilders, and commercial clients have rapid access to high-quality, sustainable technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Take full divisional P&L ownership for the Renewables & Electrical sales division.
• Provide direct leadership and management for National Account Managers, Regional Renewable & Electrical Sales Managers, and Technical Design Leads.
• Drive ambitious revenue growth, optimise gross margins, and expand market share.
• Hit account retention targets across national accounts, housebuilders, and regional installers.
• Expand the network of renewable hubs and continuously develop the team's technical expertise.

You:

Reporting directly to the Managing Director – Contract Sales & Operations, as our Renewable & Electrical Sales Director, you will drive our strategic vision, empower your national sales teams, and deliver commercial expansion through our core behaviours, acting with honesty and integrity in everything you do.

Skills and competencies:

• Proven track record of senior executive sales leadership within the renewables, electrical, HVAC, or construction merchanting sectors.
• Extensive experience successfully managing multi-million-pound divisional P&Ls within a multi-site distribution or merchanting network.
• Demonstrated success managing large-scale, national sales teams with a strong commitment to coaching, talent development, and diversity and inclusion.
• Exceptional commercial strategy development, negotiation, and high-level stakeholder management skills.
• Comprehensive understanding of UK electrical distribution, solar PV, heat pumps, EV infrastructure, and energy storage markets, alongside clear insight into trade customer needs and merchant supply chains.
• Strong ability to leverage digital tools, ERP systems, and e-commerce platforms to boost omni-channel sales performance.
• Experience with government schemes (Future Homes Standards, low-carbon retrofit policies), public speaking capabilities for national trade expos, and knowledge of MCS accreditations and grid regulations would be desirable.
